2) Explanation of the Use of Services and Functions
2.1 Virtual Buttons This website can be operated via virtual buttons.
2.2 Home, Overview, and Detail Pages The homepage provides a selection of offered products in the central area of the page.
By interacting with a product presentation, you will be taken to the product detail page. The header menu allows you to navigate between different product categories.
After selecting a category, you will be directed to an overview page showing all products in that category.
By interacting with a product on the overview page, you will again be directed to the product detail page. These product detail pages contain all essential information about the product and total price, and may also include a quantity selection element and a cart button. If available, the desired order quantity can be specified via the quantity selection.
2.3 Electronic Shopping Cart
By clicking the cart button, you add the product (in the selected quantity, if applicable) to the electronic shopping cart. This cart can be accessed at any time via the header menu. Here, you can review the added products. Via corresponding buttons, products can be removed or, if applicable, their quantities adjusted.
2.4 Electronic Ordering Process
After reviewing, you can complete the electronic ordering process by interacting with the appropriate buttons. To do this, you will first be asked to enter your contact details (at minimum: name, email address, and delivery or billing address) via an input form. In the next step, you can choose from the available delivery or service options.
Finally, you can select one of the available payment methods, enter the necessary payment information, and complete the order. The binding placement of the order only takes place once the designated button on the final order page is clicked. This button is labeled with “Buy,” “Buy Now,” “Order with Obligation to Pay,” or another clearly worded label.
Before clicking this order button, you can use your browser’s “Back” button to navigate to previous steps and/or cancel the ordering process at any time. If you have selected an online payment method, you will be redirected from the final order page to the payment provider’s system to complete the payment.
3) Legal Requirements for Accessibility
This website qualifies as an online shop and is considered a “service in electronic commerce” due to its electronic ordering and payment functionality. Special legal requirements regarding accessibility apply to it. In general, the website must offer functions and procedures designed to meet the needs of people with disabilities and support operation using digital assistive tools.
The online shop functions on this website must be:
- perceivable,
- operable,
- understandable, and
- robust
Perceivability means that the information and components of the online shop must be presented in a way that is easily perceivable by all users. Operability requires that the shop’s functions be usable by people with limited mobility or cognitive abilities. Understandability means that the shop’s information and features must be logically structured, clearly labeled, and easy to recognize.
Robustness means that the content and functions of the online shop must be reliably usable without restrictions, even when assistive technologies are used. If products subject to their own accessibility requirements are sold via the online shop, information on accessible use must be provided for such products — if available.
4) Available Accessibility Features
This website fulfills accessibility requirements through the following measures:
- Alt-texts for images: Images in the online shop include alternative texts providing brief descriptions that can be processed by screen readers.
- Operability via mouse and keyboard: Online shop functions can be used with both mouse and keyboard. Keyboard control keys can be used to move and activate the mouse pointer.
- Browser-independent page display: Content and functions are available in identical layout, orientation, and resolution regardless of the browser used.
- Cascading Style Sheets (CSS): A programming language is used to separate the page's visual presentation from its content structure, allowing assistive technologies to apply their own visibility schemes.
- Adequate spacing between characters: Text characters are displayed with sufficient spacing to ensure readability.
- Screen reader compatibility: The online shop’s content is compatible with all common screen readers and can be read and interpreted by them.
- Responsive design (adaptation to various screen sizes): The content, elements, and functions automatically adjust to the size of the screen in use.
- High color contrast: A strong contrast between text and background colors is preset to ensure optimal visibility of page elements.
- Textual hints when input fields are left blank: If required input fields are not filled, a text hint will be provided in addition to a color highlight. This hint explains which information is missing.
